Home Again Home Again, Jiggity Jig

My mom used to sing us that little ditty when we pulled into the garage after a long day of errand running, and it always made me smile. In fact, it still does. I got the same feeling last night when I pulled into my parking lot after a trip to Sulphur, Louisiana, to say goodbye to Papa. The few days we were there were so bittersweet. Saying goodbye is never easy, but yet, it was so comforting and wonderful to be surrounded by my family, visiting, reuniting, hugging and catching up.

I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy one and another, but my work schedule (and my waistline) wouldn't allow it. I spent 48 hours surrounded by delectable cajun cooking... jambalaya, boudin balls, gumbo... you name it, we ate it. Delicious!

I'm back at work today and swamped playing catch up. I need some sweat and some endorphins, pronto! Maybe before Top Model tonight? In between the madness of the past week, though, I squeezed in time to cut out some Hems & Hers orders and complete the little number I'm wearing today.

This weekend Daddy, Sis and I are headed to Knoxville to visit my Papaw, who is battling melanoma that has spread to his lungs and his blood. Despite the very bleak prognosis, Papaw is determined to fight, feel good and maintain a positive outlook. He's such a blessing to me. The four of us are heading to Neyland Stadium Saturday morning to watch the Tennessee-Georgia game, and I'm crawling out of my skin with excitement.

Another reason I'm crawling out o' the skin? In less than two weeks, the Supermodel and I are jetting to the Big Apple for a quick jaunt (Tuesday-Friday). I've only been to the city once on family vacay, and I can hardly wait to get up there and experience an entirely different side of it. What would you lovely ladies suggest I do while I'm in town?

Thank you all for the wonderfully sweet and encouraging notes and emails you've left me over the past few days. I have treasured each and every one.

NYC is the best! I loved window shopping on 5th Avenue and going all around Saks. I also went to the top of the Empire State building at night and it was so pretty. And, I loved Little Italy. So many fun things to do there and never enough time!

Ok here's my to-do list in NYC... (because I love it and miss it every day!)

1. Frozen hot chocolate at Seredipity. Food is amazing too. Make reservations.
2. Brunch at Pastis. YUM. Again, make reservations.
3. Italian in Little Italy. Anywhere is good.
4. My favorite line up of shops is on 5th Ave between like 15th and 23rd. Lots of good ones!
5. If you want a cheap "diner" but oh so good breakfast, go to Sullivan Diner in the village. No reservations needed!
6. Grab a Crumbs cupcake. Way better than Magnolia IMO.

Have fun :) :)
